This screen-printing project was a collaborative effort involving three of my peers.
Given an opportunity to explore the medium we decided to explore with printing something intricate , as the method is well-regarded for ability to render intricate designs.
As such, we resolved to craft a surface or print , and decided to create a motif that possessed both significance and depth, all while being visually captivating.

The motif
The motifs' design drew inspiration from the female reproductive system, with the silhouette of the uterus, pregnant women at either end, dolphins in the negative space, and the fallopian tube integrated as an arrow-like symbol.
This addition made the implications more explicit. This design aimed to shed light on the issues of violence against both entities, symbolizing foeticide and dolphin hunting through this shared motif, manipulating their forms and the interplay between positive and negative space.

After completing the surface printing, I attempted an independent effort to create and print a still from the Panchatantra tale 'The Monkey and the Crocodile' on my own.

Other explorations
I experimented with a block-print like technique inspired by traditional lino-cut methods. Lacking a lino board, we improvised using PVC foam boards and carving tools available to create a carved form of a Yakshagana performer, focusing on the face and headgear, and explored producing prints from this carved motif.
